SBA List Applauds Applauds ‘Positive News‘ in SCOTUS Decision

Susan B. Anthony List, a national pro-life group, applauded the Supreme Court for a decision to not yet hear a case that challenges Arkansas' Abortion-Inducing Drugs Safety Act.

"The Supreme Court's action [Tuesday] means that Arkansas will have another chance to defend its chemical abortion regulations in court," said

"That's positive news."

Medication abortion, which is available only early in a pregnancy, involves the combination of two pills, mifepristone and misoprostol, CNN reported.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday cleared the way for the law, which requires any physician that provides the abortion-inducing drug to have a contract with a physician who has admitting privileges at a nearby hospital,

"[Tuesday's] action by the High Court represents a judicious course of action that will result in the trial court being forced to conduct a more searching analysis before striking down a duly enacted legislative measure designed to protect women," the SBA List statement said.

The law is allowed take effect in mid-July if no other legal action is taken. The ruling did not say whether the law is legal or not, CNN reported.

Planned Parenthood said it would take action to block the law in U.S. district court.

"Arkansas is now shamefully responsible for being the first state to ban medication abortion," Planned Parenthood executive vice president Dawn Laguens said in a statement, CNN reported.
